Calpe is a beach resort loved by families and singles alike.
The Beaches
It has two beaches with beautiful golden sand, each separated by the famous ‘Penon d’Ifach’ which dominates the horizon. This famous rock, which is a spectacular 332m high, is now a designated nature reserve, dividing the beaches, and the bustling fishing port and marina.
Eating out
There are lots of places to lunch on Levante and La Fossa beach, but after dark the best places to go are the restaurants in the old port serving fish straight off the boats
Entertainment
The bright lights of the port area are the centre of evening activity.
Shopping
There are plenty of opportunities to purchase souvenirs and all basics. However, serious shoppers do need to go to the bigger towns nearby.
The Fishing Port
Callpe’s fishing port comes alive with hustle and bustle as the afternoon fish market draws near. At around 5pm each afternoon lots of people go down to the fish quay to watch the boats unload their catch. The fish are immediately auctioned at the local fish market. They may be purchased in local shops, but most people go to the wonderful selection of restaurants close by (some of which are pictured below) to try out some of the excellent fresh local shellfish.
